Looks like Kyler Murray won his starting job back.
Ya think?
Murray completed 17 of 21, for 432 yards and six touchdowns in the Sooners’ 66-33 win over Baylor.
He picked up fumbles and threw for first downs (in the same play).
He converted 3rd downs with his feet.
And he tied the school record for most TDs responsible for with seven (one rushing and six passing) — tying some guy named Baker Mayfield.
He reminded everyone how valuable a $4+ million major league baseball signee is to the Sooners.
Although at times it seemed like the Sooners offense was again bailing out the Sooners defense, which gave up 24 second-half points, one must remember the D held a potent Bears offense to just nine points before intermission.
And, defensive coordinator dialed up five and six man pass rush pressure on key third downs to keep the Baylor offense unsteady early in the game.
But it was Murray’s amazing athleticism — at times breezing past Baylor defenders as if they had lead boots on — that stole the show.
“We saw the best player in the country today. Kyler Murray is the best player in the country,” OU radio color commentator and former Sooner linebacker Teddy Lehman said after the game.
He may be right.
As sports pundit Rick Bayless called him: “Kysman Murray?”
“Are you SURE Tua is running away with the Heisman? I’m not. From Baker to Kyler,” Bayless wrote on Twitter, refering to the Alabama QB that gets all the ESPN attention.
