Make no mistake about it. That was a costly win. Rodney Anderson is one of, if not the best running back in college football.
I know Sermon and Sutton are good, but Anderson is on another level. And I think that was the last time we see him in a Sooner jersey.
I would assume that he rehabs and then enters the NFL draft next year. We all wish him the best.
With Anderson out in the first quarter, it became the Cee Dee show. And what a show it was. Lamb might be the best NFL prospect at receiver ever to play at OU. He is the prototypical wide out that NFL teams covet. Tall and long, great hands and is making the crazy catches.
The Odell Beckham catch he made against UCLA was one of the best catches I’ve ever seen. I don’t care that he didn’t get his foot in bounds.

With CeeDee showing out and the defense holding UCLA to one big play early in the game, the Sooners cruised to a 49-21 win.
Now it’s on to Big 12 play and the first road game of the season against the Iowa State Cyclones.
We all remember what happened last year.
The Cyclones came to Norman and shocked the Sooners by winning for just the 6th time in the last 80 plus years. The Oklahoma vs. Iowa State football series is one of the most lopsided in the history of college football in the Sooner’s favor. But for now, it’s Iowa State that’s on the winning streak.
Outside of wanting to win every game you suit up for, the Sooners should have no problem gaining motivation for this game. They should want a little revenge for what the Cyclones did last year. They should want to come out and prove that last year was a fluke and assert themselves as the team to beat in the Big 12.
The Cyclones looked terrible against Iowa last week scoring only 3 points in a loss to their instate rival. Granted it was their first game of the season as their opening contest on September 1st against South Dakota State was cancelled due to lightening.
However, I would have expected a better showing against their rival. They say that the most improvement comes from game one to game two. But I don’t think it will be enough against the Sooners. They still have a very stout defense after holding Iowa to 13 points. And you can bet they will be coming after Murray with abandon hoping to force him into some bad decisions.
But their offense will take a hit this year. They have lost their two best receivers in Lazard and Ryen from last year. They still have David Montgomery, who now that Anderson is out for the Sooners, is the best running back in the Big 12.
But they don’t have the targets for the passing game this year. I would expect the Sooners to load up and stop the run and force Kempt to beat them with his arm. He was able to do it last year in Norman, but not this time.
We are getting better as a defense and Iowa State is taking a step back as an offense.
Still, this is a Big 12 road game, and outside of Kansas those aren’t an easy get. As such the Worry Meter is at 70% this week. Oklahoma should pull away after a tight first half, but that is what everyone thought last year. With all that being said….BOOMER!!!
