Sooner fans get an extra hour of sleep today, with the UCLA game kickoff at high noon.

And, looks like last week’s sweltering sauna is gone. May be cool and rainy today for this game.

Now, looking to the game — what should we watch for?

From UCLA:

No. 7, Freshman QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson steps into the shows of transfer Wilton Speight, who was injured last week and may get limited playing time in Norman. Thompson was 15 for 25 for 117 yards against Cincinnati. He has a strong arm, but struggled at times with accuracy.

The UCLA linebacking corps could be key. No. 14, Junior Krys Barnes may fill in at inside linebacker where the Bruins are thin after Josh Woods (30 solo tackles last season) sustained a season-ending knee injury. Juco transfer No. 25 Tyree Thompson may also play there.

UCLA’s strategy:  Chip Kelly has never lost consecutive games as a college football coach. But then until last week he had not coached since he was at Oregon in the 2013 Fiesta Bowl. His implementation of his spread offense at UCLA stumbled last week against Cincinnati and losing his starting QB to injury didn’t help for this game with Oklahoma.

Kyler Murray and Rodney Anderson lead the Sooners offense.
For Oklahoma:

No. 1 QB Kyler Murray. Will make his third start at Oklahoma (he started against West Virginia last year due to a series suspension of Baker Mayfield). He started three games as a true freshman at Texas A&M before transferring. Murray showed he can run AND throw the football in last year’s trouncing of Florida Atlantic.

No.9 LB Kenneth Murray. 6’2″, 238 pounds. Sophomore. A key player if the defense is to improve this season.

OU’s strategy: Run Rodney Anderson behind a seasoned offensive line that should control the line of scrimmage.

Soonerguys Prediction:

OU 41  UCLA 17
