Any win over texas is a great win. Especially when every year OU has to play the longhorns, as well as the officials. You just come expect it in this game. Been that way for years.
This year, however.. .This year was just so off the charts ridiculous. Had that game been officiated fairly, the Sooners win by at least two touchdowns and probably even more.
The holding against our defensive line was so egregious; no wonder Obo fell to the ground in exhaustion when the final whistle blew.
Maybe our new president, whomever that may end up being, will finally get us out of this crooked conference. This conference that is still controlled by texas and their cronies from the old SWC.
That the Sooners won the game was a testament to the defense fighting to the very end to finally overcome the stacked deck against them. And this is a welcome sight after our past three games.
Credit where credit is due. The defense did their job by playing harder and smarter. texas rarely had open receivers and the D-line bottled up any run game that the horns tried to mount.
Again, the only reason they scored the points they did, had a lot to do with the help they had from the zebras.
So the defense is showing signs of getting better. Too be sure better teams and quarterbacks are coming, but at least there is hope.
Now the past few weeks I have kind of given the offense a pass. But now they have to figure out why they keep jumping on teams and then letting them off the hook.
The Sooners again got up big early against the longhorns 20-0. From there forward OU was outscored 9-24. It just makes no sense. Are the other teams just that much better at in game adjustments?
I’d like to think that Riley was hired because of his play calling abilities and the fact that he can take whatever the defense gives him no matter the adjustments.
So I don’t know what’s going on. Maybe it’s just a mental thing. They get up big and think, well this game’s over.
I would hope that three straight games of big comebacks will finally get them to realize that they need to play fast and furious until zeros are on the clock.
And they had better start now, because although K-State is reeling at 3-3 and their starting quarterback is hurt, that is exactly what makes them even more dangerous.
Look what happened when Iowa St. had to go to their second string quarterback.
Heck even Baylor and texas technically started their second string quarterbacks against us.
K-State is desperate to save their season. The Sooners always get everyone’s best shot and that will be no different in Manhattan this Saturday.
That’s why the Worry Meter is hovering around 75%. Snyder will have his team chomping at the bit to play us, no matter who they have behind center. Let’s hope Oklahoma also brings the same intensity. With all that being said…..BOOMER!!! – Dave
