The Sooners did what they needed to do against the Cyclones last Saturday night. Despite a lackluster 2nd quarter they torched Iowa St. 52-16. The offensive hummed along and the defense was stout.
Now we move on to bigger and hopefully better things.
But before we do, let me share a few thoughts I have about the week two Playoff Committee Rankings. What a load of horsesh!t. Look, I realize the rankings mean nothing until the final week, but some of the stuff coming out of this committee is just laughable.
And while it is very rare for me to say anything in defense of our little brother pokie state, they are getting the shaft. They have a better win than any win from Stanford, Iowa, Notre Dame or Baylor. And all those teams are ranked ahead of them. And two of them have LOST already. osu is UNDEFEATED.
And if that wasn’t crazy enough, this is what the committee chairman Jeff Long said when asked if Stanford’s high ranking was because they were being given somewhat of a pass on their loss to Northwestern because it was played at 9am Pacific Time. “Absolutely,” Long said. “Yeah, I think that it’s a significant thing.”…..What the actually f$&k!!!
I can’t get a hold on this game. baylor has not played anyone and has had trouble with a few teams. But the way their offense has run up and down the field scares me.

Is he really saying that Stanford’s loss is not really a loss because of jet lag?!??
That statement right there should let everyone know that the committee is full on crooked and they will do what they can to get who THEY want in the final four. And unfortunately that means the Big 12 most likely gets left out again no matter what happens.
A one loss Notre Dame or a one loss Stanford will get in over an undefeated osu or baylor. As strange as it may sound, I think a one loss Sooner team has a better chance of getting in than an undefeated osu or an undefeated baylor due to name recognition.
The very fact that Iowa…yes Iowa is ranked ahead of osu or baylor just boggles the mind. Nope. Unless it’s OU, the Big 12 doesn’t stand a chance. And for it to be OU, it has to begin Saturday night in Waco with a win against the big bad bears.
I can’t get a hold on this game. baylor has not played anyone and has had trouble with a few teams. But the way their offense has run up and down the field scares me. And I don’t think baylor having Stidham at the helm instead of Russell will make a difference.
Most people think that Stidham is better than Russell anyway and he just needs more experience. Russell has probably played his last game for baylor barring injury to Stidham down the road.
I think their defense can be had, but the fact that it’s in Waco, probably gives them the win. The Sooners will have to play mistake free and force a turnover of two to pull this one out. No punts. We will need to score on almost every possession and more touchdowns than field goals.
And we have to protect Mayfield. The bears will be after him and they are as dirty as they come, so the cheap shots will be plentiful.
Our defense is improved, but I doubt we hold Baylor to under 40.
The Sooners have not forgotten the past two years of blowouts against the bears. They will be ready. But it might not be enough. That’s why the Worry Meter is at 99% this week. I certainly would like to shut Briles up. I hope our boys can do it.
With all that being said…BOOMER!!! — Dave
