Sooners give impressive performance against Tech, this is a no stress week at KU

DAVES-LOGO-copyGOOD GRIEF WHERE WAS THIS TEAM AGAINST TEXAS!!!! ??

Ok. I hope I got that out of my system. But doesn’t it seem that both these wins after the Cotton Bowl sting just a little bit? It’s still hard to let that one go.

The Sooners turned in their second impressive performance since the Debacle in Dallas in wiping the smile off pretty boy Kingsbury’s face and beating down the Red Raiders.

The offense ran all over the Tech defense as Perine had over 200 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns and Mixon added over 150 yards and 2 more touchdowns of his own. Mayfield was solid in throwing two touchdown passes, however for only a little over 200 yards.

But again that was because we were busy gashing the Red Raiders for over 400 yards rushing total. Granted, the Tech defense is pretty bad, but still.

Even more impressive may have been the defense as Tech, the second ranked offense in the country, was held to it’s second lowest point total of the season.

And it was basically a fourth stringer by the name of Dakota Austin who had to come in for Sanchez as Marcus Green and PJ Mbanasor were already injured. PJ on the kickoff and Marcus in practice. Austin more than held his own, even getting a crucial interception in the endzone right before halftime, that if caught for a touchdown gives Tech huge momentum going into the break.

And it must have been a very satisfying win against Taco Tech for Mayfield and really all the Sooners. They won’t admit it, but there is bad blood between these programs because of the Mayfield situation.

Every week at the beginning of his Monday press conference, Stoops begins by congratulating the team they just played. Saying what a great team they were and how their coaching staff does a great job.

For the first time I can remember, Stoops said nothing of the kind about Tech or Kingsbury. He didn’t forget to praise Tech. He left that out on purpose.

Anyway, all in all it was a solid win on Homecoming and brings us to what surely will be two almost automatic victories beginning with Kansas in Lawrence Saturday afternoon.

KANSASKansas is just awful. The only thing the Sooners need to be concerned about during this game is coming away injury free as a win should be a foregone conclusion. So that’s why the Worry Meter gets a break this week as it is only reading 5%. Should be a light workout against the Jayhawks.

With all that being said…BOOMER!!! Dave
