Four games in and I am not really sure how good this OU team is.
To be sure, the West Virginia win was a solid victory. The Mountaineers came in with impressive stats on offense and
defense, albeit against inferior opponents. The more concerning issue is the resume of the other teams the Sooners have beaten this season.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it until my dying day. texas…man I hate those bastards. The only thing worse than losing to texas, is losing to texas when we are clearly the better team.

Tulsa got beat by Houston and by a pretty healthy margin. But more disappointing is the Tennessee Volunteers. They just keep finding new ways to blow big leads. Now the Vols are 2-3 and that Sooner win in Knoxville doesn’t look so great. Or does it? If you look at it from another angle, the Volunteers should have by all accounts beaten Florida on the Gators home field. The same Florida team that has now knocked off then number 3 Ole Miss and is undefeated and a top ten team.
So again, how good is Oklahoma? You would think good enough to beat a complete mess of a 1-4 texas team this Saturday in the 110th edition of the Red River Rivalry. And that’s what scares me about this game. OU thinking they are good enough to just show up and beat the longhorns without breaking a sweat. Scares the hell out of me.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it until my dying day. texas…man I hate those bastards. The only thing worse than losing to texas, is losing to texas when we are clearly the better team. And on paper, we are clearly the better team and should beat the longhorns…well…without breaking a sweat. I mean come on. They’re 1-4.
There are rumblings about firing the head coach. The Sooners are undefeated and favored by double digits. Sound familiar? It’s just like 2013….when the longhorns beat us by double digits
and it wasn’t even that close. Hell we were favored LAST year and they beat us in every phase of the game except the scoreboard. And this year texas is giving the Sooners even more
reasons to overlook them. In fighting on the team. Seniors calling out the freshman, saying they don’t work hard. Players on their phones at halftime tweeting about transferring. The
head coach has already fired the offensive coordinator and even the athletic director was given his walking papers.
And this just in. Now Bevo isn’t even going to the game due to a life threatening sickness. Can it get any worse? Dumpster fire, right? But look a little closer. Their four losses have all been against ranked teams that have a combined 19-1 record. They missed an extra point that would have taken Cal to overtime. Another overtime opportunity was blown against Okie St. when the center snapped the ball over the punter’s head. Two special teams mistakes away from possibly two wins. So do you know what the longhorn coaches and players are thinking and saying right now? We are so close. We’re right there.
And a win over arch rival OU would fix everything. All would be forgotten and the ship would be righted. Oddly enough we are the perfect opponent for them right now. A win against us does so much more for them and their situation than if say they were playing Kansas Saturday. They are going to come out with their hair on fire convinced they can win this game. And if the Sooners don’t
match their intensity. If they think they can half ass their way to victory…That’s why the worry meter is redlining at 95% this week.
OU really should win this game going away. But again, that’s what scares me. With all that being said…BOOMER!!!
