It may have taken a suspension and a disqualification of other linebackers to get him on the field, but walk-on Caleb Gastelum has shown he has the mettle to play for the Sooners.
Gastelum played well in both last week’s game when Frank Shannon was sidelined and Jordan Evans was disqualified. He stepped in against Tulsa and lead the defense with eight tackles, one sack and one interception. After the game Coach Bob Stoops announced Gastelum was a walk-on no more — he was awarded a scholarship.
