What impact do you believe Mike Stoops will have on OU’s defensive performance this year?
Our experts’ answer:
The players will know eyes are on Mike Stoops’ demeanor. Will they take risks to make game-changing plays? Or will they play it safe knowing that busted coverage means a public tirade from Mike on national TV? These aren’t our fathers’ Sooners. College kids these days do what they can to avoid a public flogging — because they know it can show up on SportsCenter. Mike, a Gen-Xers, will have to understand Gen-Y. Take my word for it; it’s not easy. – Tommy |
Sounds like the changes he makes to the defense will be minor. So the impact will be minimal. – Greg |
His impact should be with the DB,s but I hope for improvement over all. – Roger |
Defense will play better due to Stoops recognizing the need to play the players in the position they fit best. Players will do better because of the change in leadership but mostly from a pride aspect after some really poor games last year. – Rick |
Intensity. Better linebacker play. – Alex |
Mike will simplify the defensive scheme, thus allowing his starters to do what they do best…use their athleticism to make plays. – Mike P. |
I think Stoops will help stop the running quarterbacks that OU Defense has had trouble with last season. He’s gonna let the players play the game and it should be a positive outcome. – Hunter |
Should be a continuation, as he is OLD school Daddy Stoop’s method. – Gerald |
