Oklahoma has seven Big 12 championships. Media members have voted the Sooners the favorite to get their eighth this year.
OU was picked first and OSU was picked fourth in a Big 12 preseason poll released Monday.
The Sooners received 32 of 41 first-place votes on ballots cast by media members who cover the league.
Conference newcomer West Virginia was picked second with seven first-place votes, and Texas was chosen third with no first place votes. West Virginia shared the Big East Conference championship last season and beat Clemson 70-33 in the Orange Bowl.
