All of a sudden, audacity abounds again.

David Ash, the freshman Texas quarterback who at times made the simple task of completing a forward pass look as complicated as landing on Mars, climbed a stage late Wednesday and promised Longhorns fans the moon. Kenny Vaccaro, the UT defensive back with NFL options, announced he was delaying his pro career and taking his teammates (if not his talents) “to South Beach.”

And Mack Brown, the coach who’d spent much of the past month denying reports of his professional demise, talked about his 8-5 team and made earnest comparisons to the one that eight years ago was ascending toward a national championship.
