Paul Rhoads made a joke late Friday that will spark serious conversations in coming months.
The Iowa State football coach was explaining why he switched quarterbacks during a 27-13 loss to Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl. Near the end, Rhoads quipped, “I wanted to create a quarterback controversy heading into spring ball.”
Steele Jantz and Jared Barnett split time at the position in 2011 — each delivering three victories — and will be among the most talked about returners next season.
