No excuses – time for Sooners to get tough

by

Well crap.  Not much to say that you probably haven’t already heard from the talking heads and around the water cooler at work.

Just a crappy night all around.

I guess we should have seen it coming when we started to hear about all the injuries during the week.  Four starters out by the time the game kicked off.

That’s almost 20% of the starting 22.  (Reminded me alot of the West Virginia Fiesta Bowl).  On top of that you add a hungry Tech team, a Sooner team that might have read too many of their press clippings, and a 90 minute weather delay and you get the perfect storm.   Perfect for Tech anyway.

But in the end their should be no excuses and there is plenty of blame to go around.  Offense, defense, special teams and coaching were all at fault.

What might be the most frustrating part is that if just one of those four elements had performed even to an average level it would have been enough to offset the other three and win.  But they were all just bad.

In the end you hope they learn from it and move on.  It will be interesting to see how the team reacts.

They can pack in the season or they can realize the season is far from over.  They can say to themselves nothing is over until we decide it is!  Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?! (Germans?  Forget it he’s rolling).

And it ain’t over now!  Cause when the going gets tough……the tough get going!  Who’s with me!?! Let’s go!  Come on!

Anyway, no time to feel sorry for ourselves because KSU certainly won’t.  Even in years when they are down Bill Snyder gives Oklahoma fits, much less when they have a good team.  And they are good.  OU will have to play up to their potential to beat the Cats in Manhattan.

That’s why the worry meter is at 100% this week.  It’s time to put up or shut up if the Sooners want to salvage this season.

With all that being said….BOOMER!!

I also want to say that our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of former Tulsa football player Anthony Germany.  I work with his wife and we were all shocked when we heard the news.  We are all praying for her and her family.  — Dave
