During the tenures of Bob Stoops at Oklahoma and Mack Brown at Texas the following has occurred:
Stoops vs. Texas: 8-5. Brown vs. OU: 6-8. (One of Brown’s wins was as first year head coach at Texas over John Blake in his last year as head coach of OU).
Stoops’ three largest victories in point differential over Texas: 65-13, 63-14 and 55-17. (Plus Stoops has a 12-0 shutout). Mack’s three largest 45-12, 34-3, 28-10. (Again the 34-3 victory was over Blake).
Big XII titles for Stoops: 7. Big XII titles for Brown: 2. National Title game appearances: Stoops 4, Brown 2.
Heisman Trophy winners: Stoops 2, Brown 1 (And that one Heisman winner, Senior Ricky Williams, was in Brown’s first year as head coach, thus he did not recruit him). Are we beginning to see a pattern here?
Texas has by far the bigger athletic budget. Their facilities are second to none. They are in the middle of the richest recruiting base in the country. And they are consistently ranked in the top 5 if not number 1 in recruiting classes every year.
Yet somehow Oklahoma trumps them in the most important category, RESULTS. Texas fans, aren’t you livid over this?! All these advantages and you still keep getting schooled by OU?! I thought you were TEXAS?! Nobody messes with TEXAS!!!!!
Maybe the Longhorn Network can do an investigative news piece on this subject.
Anyway, on to Kansas. There are only two issues with this game that would remotely worry me. It’s on the road and it’s a possible letdown game for the Sooners after Texas.
But even with those issues OU still rolls. Kansas has a decent offense, but I’m pretty sure myself and 10 buddies could put up some points on their defense. So the worry meter gets a rest this weekend as it is only at 5%. With all that being said….BOOMER!!! — Dave
