Soonerguys Big 12 Power Rankings

by

1. Nebraska.  The Huskers eeked out one in Ames last week only because Iowa State Coach Paul Rhodes is a risk taker.  Iowa State showed that the Nebraska defense is not as great as we thought. But then again, neither is any other defense in the league.

2.  Oklahoma State.  It pains us to say that any orange-clad team in Stoolwater is No. 2 in the conference.  But, facts are facts.  Big bro Gundy has this bunch clicking.  We give them props that are due.  Just ditch the whole “pistols firing” thing, please.

3.  Oklahoma.  We may be over-rating the Sooners here. They certainly are not No. 3 in the conference when playing on the road.  But, the debacle in College Station wouldn’t have felt so bad if these Sooners weren’t so talented. Things like that should not happen.  A congressional investigation may be in order.

4.  Baylor.   The Baptist bubble burst in Stillwater last week.  Still, you have to like Griffin and gang.

5.  Missouri.  Yes, we know they lost to the Red Raiders, but it was in God foresaken Lubbock for Pete’s sake. Nothing does well there except cotton.

 6.  Texas A&M.  You have to be lucky if you switch a wide receiver to quarterback in mid season and look good.  A&M may get their little toy soldier heads handed to them the rest of the way, but in the meantime they’re in the Big 12 upper half.

7.  Iowa State.  Coach Paul Rhodes is a stud.  There we said it the second week in a row.  The Cyclones were one pass completion away from upsetting Nebraska for the second year in a row.

8.  Kansas State.  One thing is sure, this team has Texas’ number.

9.  Texas Tech.   How do you lose to Iowa State and then beat Missouri?  This is craziness.

10.  Texas.  This is God’s way of punishing the most arrogant bunch of fans imaginable.

11.  Kansas.  Their comeback win over Colorado moved them out of the cellar.  Yeah.  Hooray. Whatever.

12.   Colorado.   This team checked out to the Pac-10 a few months ago.  They’re like the flashing light at a cheap motel:  Vacancy!
