A lot on the line for both teams
I don’t care that it was just Maine. It was nice to see the offense have as much success as they did last
Saturday.
It can only help development and cohesion to have that kind of success, against any type of
competition.
It gives a glimmer of hope with much stiffer competition coming in the last quarter of the
season.
That starts this Saturday night in Columbia against an old Big 8 and Big 12 foe the Missouri Tigers. Missouri has been up and down this year with a 6-2 record. They are coming off a bye week after being shut out by Alabama.
Some of that probably had to do with the fact they lost their starting QB, Brady Cook in that game and the backup Drew Pyne proceeded to throw three picks. They couldn’t get any rhythm on offense against the Tide and that was that.
Cook is listed as questionable coming into the game against the Sooners. So, we probably won’t know until kick off if he will be able to go or if Pyne will get the start. If it’s Pyne, I like our chances a whole lot more in this contest.
On the Sooner sideline we are still hoping that just maybe we might get back a couple of starting receivers to add to Jackson Arnold’s arsenal.
Again, it was just Maine, but I thought Arnold and the O-line played their best game of the year. And Jovantae Barnes had a career day of 203 yards and 3 touchdowns.
If I’m not mistaken, Oklahoma started off as a 2.5-point underdog to the Tigers. The line this morning was OU favored by 3 points. So, money is coming in on the Sooners.
There are more than a few people out there that think OU can win this tough SEC road contest. And while it isn’t going to be easy, like I said, if Pyne starts, I like our chances.
There is not a lot of love lost between these two programs, even though they haven’t played each other since 2011. The recruiting trail and transfer portal have seen more than a few common names associated with these teams over the past several years.
Even though if asked the coaches will brush it off, it has been a little contentious. That just adds a little more spice to a very important game for both teams.
The Sooners are still looking for a bowl berth and the Tigers still have hopes of a more special season to include the CFP.
So, there is a lot on the line and the Worry Meter is at 85% this week. This would be a big win for the Sooners in a disappointing season. With all that being said….BOOMER!!!
