Travel with confidence (and style) to Oklahoma vs. Ol’ Miss
Good day, my Sooner Lovelies! I know the world seems to be whirling around us right now and we feel that everytime we wind up on the Gridiron Runway of Life, our wonderful creations are being shredded before us.
We must not let this make our lovely dimpled chins drop, nor our wonderfully coiffed heads hang. Sooner fashion will live forever tasteful and classic!
So to lift our spirits we’ll begin today with some lyrics known well by the guests we’ll visit this week.
I wish I was in the land of cotton, old times there are not forgotten,
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land.
This, of course, is the ditty known as Dixie or Dixie Land and is known throughout the Southern regions of our fair country. This week we will be visiting the Ol’ Miss in Mississippi.
Who the Old Miss is or why we’re visiting, I’ve no idea. But this does bring up an interesting point when dressing for games. How does one dress when one is an older miss or mister as opposed to a young “thang”? Fear not, my chronologically gifted readers! This answer is easy.
When you are young, details are very important. Does this accessory go with these shoes? Does this shade of eyeshadow complement this delicate hue of blouse? Then you’re expected to go out on the catwalk of life and compete amongst all the other younglings.
When you’re older, things don’t mean quite the same.
When one has achieved more years on mother Earth, one is more confident in style. While I’m competent in dressing younger folks in the highly sought after Lit Look, I do know that down deep, it’s the confidence of the wearer that truly makes one dressed to kill! So the questions become, do these crocs go well with these socks? Does this stain on my t-shirt outshine the rip in my jeans?
The answers lie in your heart and you know you look good! So shine on, me Sooner Seniors! You are the backbone of the Sooner Fashion Nation.
As for our song lyrics and Dixie, I think I’ll change them up a bit:
We’re marching down to Dixie, away, away,
Those Dixie boys must understand
They’ll Face the Wrath of Sooner Land!
Farewell ‘til next time! Ciao!
