Sooners favored in Bedlam, but a scrambling Spencer Sanders suggests a different outcome
Worst season of OU football in over 20 years.
It was never more apparent than last Saturday in Morgantown when the Sooners bumbled and stumbled to loss number 5 on the year.
Offense, defense, coaching…they were all to blame. We are just a bad team right now that is in danger of not going to a bowl for the first time in over 2 decades.
What’s really frustrating to me is how close we actually are to being 8-2 right now.
One play here or there. One stop. One completed pass. One smarter decision.
The Sooners were blown out it in two games. TCU and texas. Against TCU Gabriel was injured on a cheap shot (shocking from TCU, I know) and missed most of that game and all of the texas game.
The other losses really did come down to a handful of plays. I guess most games do. Plays that the Sooners of recent years have been able to make.
Football truly is a game of inches. Oklahoma has two more shots at becoming bowl eligible and the first of those is Bedlam this Saturday night in Norman.
The pokes are not a particularly great team this year. But Spencer Sanders is back after injury and if he can do one thing that the Sooners won’t be able to stop, it’s scramble and run with the ball.
I wish I could see some way that has Oklahoma coming out on top in this game. But evidence all year points to the contrary.
Hopefully the Sooners pull together and use all the energy of the last home game of the year and senior day to put forth an inspired effort to upset the cowboys.
I was shocked to see that OU is just over a touchdown favorite to beat osu this weekend.
Maybe Vegas knows something we don’t know. I hope so. Vegas is not in the business of giving away money, but that line just seems crazy.
So the Worry Meter continues to spike at 95% this week.
There is always the distinct possibility that Mike Gundy looks in the mirror, sees that osu sweatshirt he is wearing and realizes who he is and wets his pants again as he has done in many a Bedlam battle in the past.
With all the being said…BOOMER!!!
