Jonathan Nelson, Jamell Fleming and Demontre Hurst are, by all accounts, good football players. Fast, strong, agile – all the things you need to play cornerback.
These are players supported by one of the game’s top coaching staffs. These are players that coaches say played well, or at least reliably, during August practices.
But when September arrives, when 85,000 fans are watching you, when the other team’s jersey isn’t crimson and cream, when the ball is in the air for real, things change.
