People need to understand that it’s hard to go undefeated in College Football these days.
Even Clemson was three yards away from being beaten by North Carolina this year. And Georgia, who everyone is so pumped about after they beat Florida, was beaten on their own home field by a now 4-5 South Carolina team.
Kansas State in Manhattan was never going to be an easy task. The Wildcats did exactly what they try to do every game, they play mistake free ball and wait for the other team to screw up.
And that’s exactly what happened. Two turnovers, 14 points for K-State. That’s the game right there.
And one of those turnovers was a pass that hit the OU receiver right in the hands and bounced off right to a Wildcat defender.
A four team playoff to me is not that much different than the old bowl system. It’s still a bunch of people in a room deciding who gets only four spots. – Dave

To be sure, the defense stunk it up. For whatever reason, they reverted to last year and turned KSU quarterback Skylar Thompson into the second coming of Tim Tebow.
But as bad as the defense played and as bad as the two turnovers by the offense were, OU still had a shot to tie the game had the officials made the right call on the onside kick.
And I really don’t want to hear the “well, it never should have gotten to that point, OU played so bad they didn’t deserve to win” argument.
The score was 48-23 with 12:54 left in the fourth quarter. Should they have just stopped the game then because OU had played so bad they didn’t deserve to win? Should Clemson forfeit their win to North Carolina because they were 27 point favorites, but they played so bad that they only won by 1 point?
If the right call had been made and OU was able to tie the game and eventually win in overtime or on a 2 point conversion in regulation, they would have deserved to win.
And I’m not taking anything away from K-State, they played a great game and won. And they may have stopped OU from scoring the tying or winning points had the right call been made, who knows? But OU should have been given the opportunity, with the correct call.
Because again, it is hard to go undefeated in college football.
And that’s why we need a REAL playoff. At least eight teams.

It should be at least eight teams and automatic bids for the major conference champions.
It’s ridiculous to think if Oklahoma wins out and is a one loss Big 12 Champion that they will most likely be left out of the playoff in favor of a one loss LSU or Alabama that will not have even played in their conference championship game.
It happened in 2017 when Alabama got in while they watched the SEC Championship game on their couches.
Should the Patriots be left out of the NFL playoffs because they lost to Baltimore last weekend?
No, and that’s why the NFL has an actual playoff so that won’t happen.
Anyway, all OU can do now is hopefully win out and see where they land.
That starts this Saturday night at Owen Field against the Iowa St. Cyclones.
Iowa St. has been up and down this year. But this is the team that rolled into Norman and beat the Sooners two years ago.
They have a good quarterback and will score points. And if the Sooner defense plays like last week, they will score a bunch of points.
The offense has to hold onto the ball and score on every possession in case that happens.
So the Worry Meter is at 85% this week. It really is a playoff for the Sooners now. And even if OU wins them all from here forward, it still might not matter.
With all that being said…BOOMER!!!
