Not much to say about the Kansas game. Weather delay, small crowd, crappy opponent, huge game looming the next week.
All those factors combined and of course you get a pretty sloppy game. The actual win was never in doubt. It just wasn’t as pretty as everyone wanted it to be.
But as they say, win and move on.
And now the Sooners move on to the biggest game of the season thus far.
texas….man I hate those bastards.
The State of texas has always been portrayed as full of tough, independent people who look at their state as more of a country of its own. Rugged individualism and determination rule the day. They remember the Alamo.
So how is it their football team acts like a second grader every time his big brother teases him about his haircut?
The horns down hand signal, long a tradition of this game, has so offended Tom Herman and Sam Ehlinger, they have gotten the league office to promise to throw a flag for unsportsmanlike conduct if an OU player happens to throw it during the game.
Does it hurt their feelings that bad?

Ehlinger went on social media and said he remembers every single team and player that disrespected the rich tradition of texas football by putting the horns down and it will not be forgotten in the future…Good grief.
He eventually took the post down. Perhaps realizing how much of a baby he came across as when he saw all the reactions that particular post elicited.
Of course Herman started the whole horns down controversy after last year’s West Virginia loss when he said there should have been a flag when Will Grier scored the winning touchdown and flashed the dreaded horns down as he crossed the goal line.
Really…is that how you want to win the game Tom? Of course Herman is not alone in this thin skinned longhorn culture.
Years ago Mack Brown complained that since the OU side of the Cotton Bowl is over the only tunnel to enter the playing field, his players have to come out to OU fans yelling at his team. THE HORROR!!!
Anyway, Mack complained enough that they put up large black curtains on the sides of the tunnel so the delicate sensibilities of his team would not be offended.
Where does this insecurity come from? Maybe it’s because texas spends more on its football program than almost anyone else in the country and is also in prime recruiting territory, but so woefully underachieves.
Big 12 Football Championships since 2000: Oklahoma 12, texas 2.
Head to head wins between OU and texas since 2000: Oklahoma 13, texas 7.
I guess I can understand where they can get a little butt hurt every now and then. Constantly playing second fiddle to OU might do that to you.
And just as a side note, it was hard to hate Mack Brown. He came off as more of a kindly grandfather trying to defend his players.
But Herman….
I can’t stand Herman. Remember when he mocked Drew Lock’s touchdown celebration on the sideline of the Texas Bowl after Lock threw a pick?
That’s the head coach of supposedly one of the bluebloods of college football mocking a college kid.
You’re supposed to be an example. You’re supposed to be shaping your players not just for football but for life.
Grow the eff up you baby.
But as much as I hate Herman, I can’t deny that texas has gotten better since he got there and that Ehlinger is the real deal at quarterback.
I know our defense is better, but Ehlinger threw for over 400 yards and 4 touchdowns against L.S.U.
This game is going to hinge on Jalen Hurts’ arm. The texas D-Line is very good, but their secondary is terrible. The OU offensive line was suspect before this game due to youth and inexperience, and now with injuries they will be even more behind the 8 ball.
It will all come down to how well we can protect Jalen to let him have time to throw against the porous texas secondary.
So the Worry Meter is at 95% this week. Horns down people.
With all that being said…BOOMER!!!
