Dave: There’s reason to be worried about the Sooners O-Line

by

The Sooners took care of business against the South Dakota Coyotes in impressive fashion routing them 70 to 14.

However, a worrisome issue reared its ugly head that actually begun with the Houston game and continued last Saturday night.

The offensive line, specifically the left side, is a concern. Too many holding penalties and too much pressure on the quarterback. I realize everyone is new on the line except the center, but this needs to get changed quick.

From the interview he gave, Coach Bill Bedenbaugh has been none too pleased with the Oline, inexperienced or not.

He said they can be really good if they want to be and intimated that this week was the hardest practice of the year due to their issues. Sure hope it helps, because the meat of the schedule is coming.

This Saturday in sunny California the Soonerstravel to take on the UCLA Bruins. The second year of the Chip Kelly era is not going well. The Bruins are 0-2 to start the season losing on the road to Cincinnati and at home against San Diego St. That’s a pretty bad sign for a once proud program that has turned over the reigns to the former Oregon offensive genius.

Everything points to another Oklahoma blow out. And that’s what scares me.

Everything points to another Oklahoma blow out. And that’s what scares me. What better way to turn around the season than to take down the mighty Sooners? You can bet that is what Kelly has
been telling his players all week. Win this game and all will be right with program. It will be the big turning point that they need.

And it’s not like UCLA doesn’t have athletes. This is still a Power 5 program, not Conference USA. The Sooners had better treat this game with the same amount of respect they would give an Alabama or a Clemson.

If they don’t, the Bruins might get the turn around they need.

That’s why the Worry Meter is at 70% this week. With all the being said…BOOMER!!!
