OFFENSE | |||||
One QB away from greatness | |||||
This
fresh-faced red-shirt freshman, Sam Bradford, may be the key to the
Sooners' success on offense this year. A ho-hum season at
quarterback could cause some Sooner faithful to bite their fingernails,
cuss under their breath, or leave in disgust (even after a win),
because they know the Sooners offense is loaded in every respect but
one: quarterback.
The Sooners ought to win the Big 12 Championship. They have the offense to do it -- the best WR in the conference in Malcolm Kelly, perhaps the best O-line in the country, and tremendous depth at RB. If a season is marred with two or three losses chalked up to poor QB play, then it will cost OU dearly. On the other hand, if Bradford plays like he practices, then he'll be a solid performer -- not a Jason White, Nate Hybl or Josh Heupel. But a good player who does not make mistakes. With the supporting cast he has, that will be enough to put OU in the hunt for the BCS championship. Key games for the "O": A physical Miami defense, and the usual dogfight in Dallas against Texas.
