Clay shines, Sooners win 35-20 over ISU
It was the Brennan Clay show. No, the Justin Brown show. No, the Kenny Stills show. No, the Tony Jefferson show.
No matter who gets the credit, the Sooners got back on the winning track, outplaying the always fiesty Iowa State Cyclones 35-20 in Ames.
Oklahoma has never lost to Iowa State in eight games under Coach Bob Stoops. Stoops tied Bud Wilkinson’s win record and is now 12 wins away from Barry Switzer’s 157-win mark.
QB Landry Jones overcame two first-half interceptions, finishing 32 of 45 for a season high of 405 yards and four touchdowns.
As Stoops said after the game, the play of Clay was huge. The Sooners worked hard to establish the run game, and thanks to Clay’s 24 carries and 157 yards, they did just that, wearing the Cyclones defense down with a total 85 offensive plays.
