Dave: No fluke in Sooners’ beat down of ‘Bama

by

I think the best thing about Oklahoma’s stunning victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide, was the fact
there was nothing at all about it that could be called a “fluke”.

Oklahoma dominated Alabama all night.

And they did it once again with a patchwork offensive line and still missing their top five wide receivers.

They held the Tide out of the end zone for the first time since 2011. They rushed for 257 yards against
their vaunted defense. And they held Bama almost 200 yards below their average offensive production,
including only 70 yards of rushing on the night.

OU also racked up almost 400 yards offense to go along with 3 forced turnovers by our defense. It was a masterful game plan by the Sooners on both sides of the ball. Run the ball to win the time of possession game and contain Jalen Milroe.

The much-maligned Oklahoma offensive line blew the Tide off the field play after play. It was a sight to behold.

Jackson Arnold had his best game of the year and may have been the toughest player on the field. Time after time he held the ball and ran it into the heart of the defense. Always gaining at least three or four yards and several times getting much more. He ended the night as the leading overall rusher between both teams with 131 yards.

Sooner Fashionista’s words of wisdom: ‘Better to be looked over than overlooked’

by

Greetings, dear Sooner People!

Apparently a small brouhaha broke out this weekend. A little well-dressed bird named Pierre told me that the Sooner Nation was so brilliantly attired that the ensuing excitement caused the gridiron to be rushed in an impromptu fashion show on Saturday night.

I guess the need to show Alabamians how to dress was so desperately needed that it could not wait!  Though I do appreciate the enthusiasm, I do need to remind you that we should act like we have presented ourselves outstandingly before.  Especially when wearing heels.  That turf is murder on Louis Vuitton red.

Now we look forward to this week.  And, darlings, I’ve no patience for another striped villain of the feline persuasion.  We all know: orange is a no-no, real fur is also a no-no.  Creative naming of mascots should be, like a good visit to the powder room,a oui-oui.  I shall write the SEC posthaste.

Therefore, I leave you with some final thoughts on the past Sooner Fashion season.

Sooners turn the Tide, dominate in 24-3 win

by

Relying on the legs of QB Jackson Arnold and true freshman RB Xavier Robinson — and a dominating defense spearheaded by veteran LB Danny Stutsman — Oklahoma soundly defeated No. 7 ranked Alabama 24-3, delivering a most improbable outcome of the Sooners’ final home game of its difficult inaugural SEC season, likely spoiling the Crimson Tide’s playoff hopes and securing OU’s 25-year bowl appearance streak, the second longest in college football.

Before Saturday night’s 6:30 pm kickoff, who would have thought this would happen?

Not many. Except the guys wearing the helmets with interlocking O and U thought so.

They played like it, anyway, throughout 60 minutes of football. It might be hindsight to say this, but Alabama never threatened the Sooners after Oklahoma scored on a 18 yard Robinson run with 36 seconds left in the second quarter.

Arnold completed 9 of 11 passes, but it was his 131 yards on 25 carries that carried the day. The Alabama defense appeared to have no answer for Arnold’s keepers.

“It’s huge,” Arnold said of the win. “I’ll say this would be a signature win in my playing career. You don’t have many like this. I don’t know if I’ll ever have the field rushed again when I play. But it’s s
