Dave: OU vs WVa – first real road trip is a tough one

OU v Tennessee re-cap

Defense wins championships. But the offense sure needs to help out.
When the offense came out to receive the ball to start the third quarter and promptly drove the field for a touchdown I thought, ok here we go. The route is on.

Unfortunately that was not the case. After that first drive of the second half, the offense pretty much went to lunch. Now my hope is that Stoops told Heupel to throttle back the rest of the night.

This game is in the bag. Don’t show anything else that could give future opponents a leg up in game planning. The defense will take it home. And this may very well be the case. The defense was in control with a 17 point lead.

Dave: Bring on the SEC, but worry meter jumps

To me the win against Tulsa was very impressive. That could have been a huge trap game. On the road against a big underdog. Bad weather. The game before the big bad SEC comes to Norman.

OU could have really struggled to get up for that game. But they took to the field in a business like manner and they, well…took care of business.

The offense didn’t miss a beat scoring touchdowns on three of their first four possessions. And the defense continued to dominate in all phases and limited Tulsa to 7 points and just over 300 yards of offense. Most of it in garbage time.

Trevor continues to improve with every game and the Belldozer got the first touchdown reception of his career to become one of just a handful of Sooners who have passed for, rushed for and caught a touchdown. It was just a very impressive performance, as it was supposed to be.

And now, as I stated earlier, the big bad SEC rolls into Norman in the form of the Tennessee Volunteers.

I can’t begin to tell you how sick I am of this whole Stoops vs the SEC that has been so overblown by the media. All he ever did was give his opinion about the way the media has spun the supposed dominance of the SEC.

With only 18 Bedlam wins ever, Pokes still ‘little bro’

I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome of the Kansas State game. I really thought the Sooners would be hard pressed to pull that one out.

Trevor Knight has progressed nicely since the beginning of the season and might be the Sooner quarterback for the foreseeable future. The offense was steady and the ground game continued it’s torrid pace under Knight’s direction.

Dave’s Worry Meter

Not all was rosy though, as the defense continually let Lockett burn them again and again. In fact Lockett almost single handedly kept this game close to the very end. Without him, OU would have won in a blowout.

However, anytime you walk out of Manhattan on the right side of the scoreboard is a good day no matter the margin of victory.

Which brings us to Bedlam in stillwater against little brother.

mike gundy goes for career win number 2 against the Sooners Saturday morning. And if he gets it, that will bring his record against OU to a whooping 2 wins and 11 losses as a player and head coach.

Nice job there mike.
