Great Sooner win over Baylor, but was the Playoff Committee watching at all?

by

I guess there are some stories floating around that Art Briles may have said something less than flattering to Bob Stoops during their post game hand shake. So called “insiders” have said that is the case, but will not elaborate.

Wouldn’t surprise me. Arrogant prick. At his post game press conference he couldn’t bring himself to congratulate the Sooners. Closest he got to any praise for OU was saying that OU was a “good team but we made too many mistakes and they got out of here with a win.” Translation: “I don’t want to give OU any credit, we lost the game, OU didn’t win it.”

You know, sometimes that is the case. But not this time Art, and you know it. The Sooners came out with a chip on their shoulder and after Baylor’s first drive, punched the Bears in the mouth.

Whenever Baylor threatened to take the lead, the Sooners answered. And boy are the excuses coming out now. “Well, that was our back up quarterback.” That’s a very different story than what I heard before the game. All I heard from Baylor fans and Briles himself was that Stidham was ready. He isn’t your normal freshman back up. He enrolled in January and knows the offense. The offense won’t skip a beat. He’s better than Russell…and on and on. Whatever.

No worries this week, Sooners should roll over Cyclones

Not much to be said about the Kansas game. The Sooners took care of business as they were expected to do.

Unfortunately they couldn’t keep away from the injury bug as Alvarez went down and is doubtful for the Iowa State game. Zanchez is also listed as doubtful for Saturday.

However Stoops said that Bond and Evans have a good chance to play against the Cyclones. But why not rest them against Iowa State to make sure they are ready for Baylor? We shouldn’t need any of them to take care of the Clones.

And this is where I might stray from some of the talking heads about Saturday night’s game at Owen Field. After Iowa State shut out texas 24-0 this past Saturday, everyone started to talk about how the Sooners need to be weary of Iowa State. They are a good team that beat texas and after all, the longhorns beat OU. So the Sooners are going to have a fight on their hands? Bull.

If the Sooners don’t beat them by at least 21 points I will be disappointed. They are not a good team. Usually you are what your record says you are. They are 3-5 with wins over Northern Iowa, Kansas and texas.

Sooners give impressive performance against Tech, this is a no stress week at KU

GOOD GRIEF WHERE WAS THIS TEAM AGAINST TEXAS!!!! ??

Ok. I hope I got that out of my system. But doesn’t it seem that both these wins after the Cotton Bowl sting just a little bit? It’s still hard to let that one go.

The Sooners turned in their second impressive performance since the Debacle in Dallas in wiping the smile off pretty boy Kingsbury’s face and beating down the Red Raiders.

The offense ran all over the Tech defense as Perine had over 200 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns and Mixon added over 150 yards and 2 more touchdowns of his own. Mayfield was solid in throwing two touchdown passes, however for only a little over 200 yards.

But again that was because we were busy gashing the Red Raiders for over 400 yards rushing total. Granted, the Tech defense is pretty bad, but still.
