Sooners put a cat-a-whomping on Western Carolina, 76-0
After a sputtering first game win last week the Oklahoma Sooners put on a dominant show Saturday night in their 76-0 win over Western Carolina in Norman.
Wide receiver Jadon Haselwood scored two touchdowns in the first half on passes from Spencer Rattler, who went 20 of 26 for 243 yards and five passing TDs for the game.
The shifty running back Eric Gray lead rushers with 74 yards on nine carries, and also scored a 20-yard receiving TD.
The Sooners defense also controlled the Catamount’s offense throughout the night, limited Western Carolina to only three of 15 third-down conversions and 55 yards rushing.
Dave: No worry this week, but OU must learn to win 2nd half
That horrible screeching noise you heard last Saturday was the Sooners slamming the breaks on all that National Title talk that was so prevalent in the off season.
The emergency brake was also yanked on Spencer Rattler’s Heisman campaign for good measure.
Now I know it was just one game. And my good friend Mike told me not to panic just yet. They were mostly correctable mistakes. And he is probably right.
But if the Sooners really want to be considered for the big trophy at the end of the season, stuff needs to get real. Like right now.
