OU vs. ND – something special to happen

by

A win on Saturday will give Bob Stoops 145 victories as the coach of the Sooners.

He will tie legendary coach Bud Wilkinson with a win.

Ironically, if the Sooners come out victorious, it will come against the football program that left the mark on the most significant period of Oklahoma football — the Wilkinson-coached 47 game win streak that ended with a 7-0 lost to Notre Dame and became the NCAA record that has withstood two lifetimes.

After all, the “Beat the Hell Out of Texas Week” started when the last seconds of a unanswered 17 point third quarter ended at Jones Stadium in Lubbock.

With the score then 41-13, the Texas Tech game was over.

A little extra “scouting” never hurts the week before Oklahoma vs. Texas.

But before we all get immersed in upside down hook ’em horns it is important to recognize Landry Jones got a big monkey off his back by leading the Sooners to an impressive win in a place where the Sooners haven’t found success since Jason White quarterbacked them in 2003.
