Bedlam ends in blowout, OU wins 41-13

by

A tenacious defense and an offense that stumbled mid-way but righted itself turned Bedlam into a blowout as the Sooners continued their domination of the series against the Cowboys 41-13 under the prime time lights on Saturday.

It was the 90th win for Oklahoma over Oklahoma State in the 115 years the in-state rivals have played.

“We wanted to play tonight like we were the hunter and not the hunted,” Oklahoma Coach Lincoln Riley said. “We had to play aggressive. You have to go take it to beat a good team like this. And we certainly did that.”

Although the Oklahoma offense has lead the team in recent years, this Bedlam game showed an emerging defensive strength that led to the Sooners playing complimentary football in a manner long hoped for by fans.

It was Texas Tech’s Halloween nightmare.

Stevenson lead Sooners rushers with 87 yards on 13 carries.

No cutesy play calling in the red zone. In fact there was some conservative play calling — yes from Lincoln Riley no less.

Riley showed confidence in an improving defense.

And he was right to do so, as the Sooners took home a 33-14 road win at TCU on Saturday — a win built on stingy defense and the deep-ball connection of Spencer Rattler to Marvin Mims.

Rattler threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns, with both of those receptions to Mims. Mims finished the day with 132 yards receiving, including a 61-yard score in the third quarter.
