What to look for in the new college football season

Former OU QB Justin Fuente is the new head coach at Virginia Tech.  It seems like was going to be the coach there until the 22nd century. It will be cool to follow the Sooner Hokie this year. A key game will be September 10 when Va Tech takes on Tennessee in the “Battle of Bristol”.

They are converting NASCAR’s Bristol Motor Speedway into a football stadium (11,000 tons of gravel are being hauled in to form the base of the new field) for the game.

College fans from outside the state will be able to fly into Stillwater Airport on one of two daily flights American Airlines has begun from Dallas-Fort Worth to Poke-ville. Roger wins (Again)

rogerpickemPlanning a trip to Vegas soon? Take Roger with you.

For the second year in a row (or is it three in a row?) Roger has won the regular season Pick ’em contest. But this time it was close. He edged out Noah by a mere one point.

This was the most accurate group of prognosticators we’ve ever had in the decade of doing weekly college football picks. Eighty six games were selected this year and the difference between first place and last place was decided by only 9 games.

This week’s games (winner in bold): Texas at Baylor, Temple at Houston, West Virginia at Kansas, Florida vs Alabama, Stanford vs USC*, North Carolina vs Clemson, Michigan St. vs Iowa* (*bonus point)

Picks and final standings:

Roger Baylor, Houston, West Virginia, Alabama, Stanford, Clemson, Michigan State . 6-1 (and bonus) (season record 64-22, 69 pts)

Noah – Baylor, Houston, West Virginia, Alabama, Stanford, Clemson, Michigan State. 6-1 (and bonus) (season record 62-24, 68 pts)
