Hang on: Bedlam Worry Meter at 100 Percent

by

Reading some of the Oklahoma State message boards this week, it’s interesting to see what is being discussed.

Of course they are supremely confident that not only are they going to win on Saturday, they think it won’t even be close.

One should have confidence in their team and they very well may win. But to say it won’t even be close, that’s just ignoring the recent history of this series.

Over the past 12 years, in which OU is 10-2 against Oklahoma State, the only blowouts have been administered by the Sooners.

The closest OSU has gotten to “blowing out” OU in the last decade was a 10 point win in 2002. That also happens to be the last time OSU actually won.

Sooners stuff Cyclones 26-6 in blustery Norman

Wind gusts of up to 40 mph didn’t help offenses much, but No. 9 Oklahoma managed to get enough points to fend of a less productive Iowa State offense.

The Sooners’ 26-6 win over the Cyclones sets up a Bedlam showdown for the Big 12 championship next week in Stillwater.

Landry Jones threw for 256 yards, Blake Bell punched in two short touchdown runs and the Sooners limited Iowa State to a season-low 245 yards in a 26-6 victory on Saturday.

Rebounding after allowing a school-record 616 yards allowed last week in a 45-38 loss at Baylor, Oklahoma only let the Cyclones (6-5, 3-5 Big 12) score after James Winchester’s snap sailed over the head of punter Tress Way in the first quarter.

Oklahoma will visit Oklahoma State (No. 4 BCS, No. 5 AP) — with the nation’s second-highest scoring offense — next week with the winner earning the Big 12 title.

I can’t say that this season has not been a disappointment.

There was so much optimism coming into the year, not only from the fans but from the players and coaches.

Bob himself said that it was about time the Sooners won another National Title.

But that is out the window with an inexplicable loss to Baylor. Oklahoma’s first ever loss to Baylor.

Guess there is a first time for everything.. Damn it.

Last week I thought this game was going to hinge on the offense.

I even said Baylor was going to score some points, but our defense is stout and should hold them to a reasonable amount.

Boy was I wrong.
